Vegan diet

The vegan diet eliminates all animal products for environmental, ethical, or health reasons. It eliminates meat, dairy, eggs, and animal-derived products, like gelatin, albumin, honey, casein, whey, and some forms of vitamin D3. A vegan diet may be very effective for people who aim to lose weight without counting calories. Vegan diets are also linked to a reduced risk of some diseases such as type 2 diabetes and premature death. This low-fat, high-fiber diet makes you feel fuller for longer and prevent you from getting a chronic disease. Moreover, limiting meat may reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, or cancer.

However, its benefits, people following a vegan diet need to be more aware of how to obtain certain essential nutrients, including calcium, iron, and vitamin B-12.

Mediterranean diet

The Mediterranian diet is a way of eating based on the eating patterns of countries bordering the Mediterranean sea. It is a healthy eating plan that focuses on improving heart health and chronic disease. The diet includes lots of leafy green vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, seeds,  cereals, and olive oil as a source of heart-healthy fats. It also includes moderate amounts of fish and small amounts of meat. A Mediterranean diet coupled with physical activity can reduce the risk for many health problems like heart disease, strokes, and Alzheimer’s disease. It can also protect against type 2 diabetes.

Keto diet

A keto diet is a diet that is low in carbohydrates, moderate in protein, and high in dietary fat.

It is drastically restricting carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat.

You can eat :

  • A large amount of high-fat foods. Such as avocado, fatty fish (like salmon and sardines), oils, nuts, seeds, cheese, butter, egg yolk, and bacon.
  • A tiny amount of low-carb vegetables. Such as Leafy greens vegetables (like spinach, romaine, kale, collards), Non-Starchy vegetables (like zucchini, cucumber, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower), mushrooms, and tomatoes.
  • A moderate amount of protein. Such as fish, meat(like chicken, lamb, beef, pork), egg white.

You need to avoid carb-rich foods, such as grains (like rice, cereal, bread, pasta, etc.), potatoes, starchy vegetables, sugar, milk, and ice cream.

Dukan diet

The Dukan diet is a high-protein, low-carb weight loss diet designed by Pierre Dukan. The Dukan Diet starts by calculating your goal weight or what is called your “true weight.” Depending on your gender, age, weight loss history, and other factors. It consists of four phases. The first two phases aim to lose weight, and the second two phases aim to keep your “true” weight. The duration of each phase depends on how much weight you need to lose to reach your “true weight”.

The high-protein Dukan diet can produce fast weight loss. However, it also has several features that may make it difficult to sustain long term.

Also, people with certain medical conditions (includes kidney problems, gout, liver disease, or other serious diseases) may need to avoid it.
